Dogs
It is not unknown for excited, disobedient dogs to fall off the coast path, often in pursuit of a rabbit. It needs to be said that dog owners should exercise control and be confident with the obedience of their four-legged friends. Walkers with dogs should be very watchful for adders on the burrows during early spring and early summer. These are common here and are the only poisonous snake in the UK. Adder bites do not affect many humans but are fatal to dogs. Anti venom serum must be given to the dog as soon as possible.
We must stress that all persons using the path should not wander off it, especially on the seaward side, as to do so you would be putting yourself and possibly others in grave danger of severe personal injury or even death.
Keep to the path and stay away from cliff edges – please follow advisory signs and waymarks.
Supervise children and dogs – please look out for your children and pets at all times.
Be prepared and well equipped – wear suitable clothing and footwear and be ready for possible changes in the weather.
Stay within your capabilities – some sections of the Coast Path can be strenuous and/or remote.
In an emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
Your safety is your responsibility – please look after yourself and other members of your group.
