HUNDREDS of people are expected to join the Western Morning News for a charity hike – anticipated to be a big reunion for those who took part in the Great South West Walk last year.
For one more day, we have organised a fun ten-mile stroll in South Devon as a final fundraising push for three charities – the RNLI, the Wooden Spoon and Macmillan Cancer Support.
James Bloye, who was one of two people who complete the 630 miles of the walk along the South West Coast Path last August, will be attending the event on Sunday, May 18.
He said: “It will be like a big reunion – I’m looking forward to it. It will be nice to meet up with all the old crew.”
After walking up to 20 miles every day in August last year, Mr Bloye, from Launceston, has taken a break from vigorous exercise and has since gone for just a couple of walks a week.
Those who missed out on the hiking extravaganza last August are also welcome to come and join in the fun.
Last August an incredible £175,000 was raised by generous fundraisers and sponsors throughout the region.
The WMN hopes to reach a target of £200,000 after May’s final walk.
The circular route chosen is a ten-mile stretch from Jennycliff, near Plymouth, to Wembury.
It takes in a stunning leg of the South West Coast Path and winds inland through rolling South Hams hills back to the start point.
To join in simply fill in the coupon and return it to the WMN.
