Is your school looking for ways to help children to have a better understanding of how money works and how best to use it?

There’s never been a more important time to engage young people in understanding how to manage money and become more financially savvy.

The Mid Devon Gazette and Barclays are delighted to be working together to launch Barclays Money Skills Cash for Schools – an initiative aimed at improving the financial capability of children across Mid Devon.

We’re going to be giving away £8,000 cash to local schools – and it’s up to you how you spend it. To qualify you must state how you will use the money to develop pupils in your school to become more financially capable. For example, you could develop a resource aimed at helping children understand money, you could revamp a space and run a realistic school bank or build a vegetable patch and sell the vegetables you’ve grown to people in your community, then put the money you make back into growing more vegetables.
To benefit as many schools as possible, we’ll be splitting the prize pot to make one £4,000 prize, one £2,000, two £1,000 and two prizes of £500.
