A STROUD band has launched a high-profile bid to confront poverty around the world through music.
The Q, who formed in 2006, are gearing up to release ‘Through Your Eyes’ with backing from the Earth Love Fund (ELF) organisation, co-founded by legendary producer Vic Coppersmith-Heaven.
The county-based producer, who has worked with the likes of The Jam and the Rolling Stones, releases tracks through the ELF to raise money for charities around the world.
And The Q will join the likes of Bonnie Raitt, LL Cool J and Pink Floyd on the roster.
“Vic saw the potential in the track and over the past few months the band has been working with Vic to produce a single,” said the band’s manager Mike Veale.

“Our aim is to release Through Your Eyes in Europe through an independent German record label, ‘Time For Action Records’, as well as worldwide on itunes through Vic’s own label, Vision Discs.
“We’re currently looking for a suitable charity to work with, to which we’ll be donating a percentage of the profits generated by the track.”
Band frontman Michael Clapsom said ‘Through Your Eyes’ was written as a tool to “wake up people’s minds” to poverty around the world.
“Despite all the fund raising programs, the millions of pounds donated by individual people and the billions pledged by governments, there are still 815million starving people in the world,” he said.
“But why? Surely there’s been enough money raised to solve the problem, hasn’t there? So it’s got to be about more than just giving money. It’s got to be about attitude and actions.”
“’Through Your Eyes’ was written to stop them just sitting in their armchairs and donating down the phone, shedding tears for the starving child on TV one moment and belly laughing at re-runs of Porridge the next.
“It highlights that despite all the donations, nothing’s really changed – so something else needs to be done.”
Now, the band is looking for help raising funds to make a video for the track, giving it maximum exposure around the world - and to raise as much money as possible.
