THE Hull and Humber Clipper is competing with nine others in the longest non-professional yacht race in the world. It will cover 35,000 miles and visit five continents in 10 months. It is also the only non-professional global yacht race, led by a professional skipper. competed to earn a berth. Each of the seven legs of the world voyage are divided into races between ports. Liverpool hosted the race start and the boats are now en route to Brazil via La Rochelle in France. The boats will then head across the South Atlantic to Durban. For the next leg, the clippers head to Fremantle in Western Australia for Christmas. The fleet will then head north to Singapore and up |
the South China Sea to Qingdao in China. Hawaii is the next destination and from there the boats will head to Santa Cruz on the west coast of the United States of Americ . Jamaica forms the end of leg six and the starting of the trip home, via New York, Halifax in Nova Scotia and Cork in Ireland. The fleet should reach Liverpool again in July. |
