venues: Belmont Social Club: "We’re delighted to join the club"
A POPULAR talent contest is to be staged in east Hull for the very first time. Belmont Social Club in New Bridge Road will host heats of the Mail’s Talent Trail competition when acts take to the stage on Tuesday, January 31. Club secretary Graham Smith said the move was good news for the contest, for east Hull and the venue. He said: “Talent Trail has always been something you read about in the paper but didn’t go to see. “Everybody who comes to Belmont Social Club to sing or entertain really enjoys themselves. “The club is smaller than other places in the competition, but it’s got a great atmosphere.”
Entrants from both sides of the river are flocking to enter this year’s contest, looking forward to the chance to appear on stage at Hull City Hall in the grand final and take a shot at the contest’s prize money. Mr Smith said he was proud the Belmont was one of the first east Hull clubs to host the contest. He said: “Anything we can bring from west Hull is a boost. “The customers are really pleased about it. It’s something different for them. We have quiz nights on a Thursday and this is something we can add on to that. “It’s created quite a lot of interest. The customers like entertainment and this is something different and something good for the club.” <back
