Talent Trail
news archive: Getting ready for the main event

FOR more than a decade, he has helped make it the most successful competition of its type in the area.
Now, compere Dave Norman will once again introduce the hopefuls at the grand final of this year’s Talent Trail competition.
Tomorrow’s event will see some of the region’s brightest talent take to the stage in a bid to win the prestigious competition.
Mr Norman said he was looking forward to hosting another well-attended final.

He said: “I’ve been involved in Talent Trail for 12 years and every year we’ve managed to sell out City Hall, making it, we belive, the most successful competition in the north of England.”
Acts from across East Yorkshire have battled through 18 heats and four semi-finals to win a place on stage at Hull City Hall for the event.
Mr Norman, who will also be performing Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl on the night, said: “It’s been really good to go around new venues this year in west and east Hull.

“People have taken on the acts who have got through heats at their clubs and they have got behind them.”
Mr Norman and his wife Vicky produce the show, providing all the sound equipment at the clubs throughout the heats.
Mr Norman said: “We make sure the acts are comfortable with what they are doing and everything is right for them.

“We try to make sure everything is as enjoyable and easy for them as we can.
“I compere and Vicky engineers all the sound and makes sure everything they sing is exactly how they want it, whether we agree with them or not.”

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the final, which will feature all the acts as well as dancers from Gemma’s Dance School and live music from Ti Amero.
The winner of the event will also take part in the Autumn Spectacular charity show organised by the Normans.
Like Talent Trail, the show, on October 13, will be raising money for the Mail’s charity of the year, Hull Animal Welfare Trust.
Money raised will also go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Every heat and semi-final has been covered in the Mail and videos, pictures and coverage of all the acts are also featured on the competition website www.talent
trail.co.uk
This year, for the first time, footage of the heats has also been shown on the big screen in Queen Victoria Square in Hull city centre.
Coverage will continue for the final and the website will bring viewers the best performances from the main event.
