ONE of Hull’s newest cinemas is backing Talent Trail 2008.
Reel cinema, which opened in St Stephen’s in November, is supporting the competition that raises funds for the Mail’s charity of the year.
Talent Trail aims to find the finest performers in East Yorkshire and has attracted hundreds of entrants in its 14-year history.
Kailash Suri, national managing director of Reel Cinemas, said the company is keen to “give something back” to the community it serves.
“It is our policy to get involved in local charities and projects,” he said.
“Our cinemas are very community-based. They are not just cinemas,

they run projects for children and senior citizens and education programmes.
“We want to put something back into the community.
“It is not enough to just talk about helping the community, you have got to actually do it.
” Each year, the proceeds of Talent Trail go to the Mail’s charity of the year, which will be announced in the next few weeks.
Last year’s charity was Golden Leaves, who received a cheque for £3,387.10 this month to help its work with elderly people across the region.
The first heat will be held at the Cherokee Club in Askew Avenue, west Hull, on Tuesday, January 29. Videos of Talent Trail 2008 performances will be shown on

Acts hoping to be crowned Talent Trail 2008 winner will also be able to get an application form to enter from the new site, as well as in the Mail.
The competition, which is being sponsored by Reel Cinemas for the first time, will be held at six venues across the city this year.
The overall winner of Talent Trail will be presented with a prize of £2,000 and a Talent Trail trophy.
Anyone wishing to enter Talent Trail must be aged 16 or over. Previous Talent Trail winners are not permitted to re-enter.
