THERE was nothing to call between joint winners Natalie Fernie and Amy Leigh – the latest semi-finalists in Talent Trail 2008.
Heat 12 of this year’s competition, held at the Chambers Club in Holderness Road, east Hull, saw the singers match each other on points, putting them both through ahead of their four other rivals.
It was the first time in the competition for Amy, who said she normally goes along to watch, rather than take part.
“I have been singing for a couple of years around pubs and clubs,” said the 24-year-old, of west Hull.
“I just tried to forget the fact it was a competition. You have to put that out of your mind.”
Amy treated the audience to covers from Amy Winehouse, Rod Stewart and Abba, but said she had not thought as far ahead as the final.

“I haven’t even thought about that,” she said.
“I’ll just see what happens.”
Natalie, 23, of east Hull, was returning to singing for the first time since she had a baby boy.
She said: “I haven’t sang for four years. I’m just doing the competition to try to get my confidence back, I never even thought I would get through.”
Natalie performed Chain Of Fools, which has been performed by a number of artists, including Aretha Franklin, Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan and Think Twice by Celine Dion.
Other performers were Maggie Miller, 40, of east Hull, duo SezLes, featuring mum and daughter Lesley, 53, and Sarah Westlake, 16, of Spalding, Lincolnshire, CJ Lewis, 24, of Bridlington, and Nichola Birjoo, 18, of Sutton.
