Hello and welcome to the 'Farmers of the Future' microsite
Farming in the Westcountry has survived a turbulent past decade, with diseases like foot and mouth and BSE, compounded by the attentions of an uncaring Government which has imposed draconian bureaucracy that has done nothing to help progress into a new era of agriculture - producing for profit rather than chasing subsidies. The third annual Farmers of the Future supplement celebrates the success and aspirations of a new generation entering agriculture, confronting the problems of a modern world with its demands for ever-higher quality, balanced with the necessities of food security - an environment their predecessors of only a few years ago could never have envisaged.
