Al fresco dining in a superb location
THIS summer, sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the Bay in a superb waterside location.
Casual drinks or a delicious meal can always be enjoyed at the Pier Point Restaurant and Bar on the promenade in Torquay.
Pier Point is now under new management with talented individual Kelly Widley taking on the role as new general manager.
Local girl Kelly, a South West Tourism and Skills Hospitality ambassador, previously opened Carlinos in Newton Abbot and was front of house manager at the Berry Head Hotel, Brixham.
Ambitious Kelly was also recognised as ‘one of seven highly motivated scholars, embracing her ambassadorial role with great commitment and energy’ as an Acorn Scholarship winner in 2006, an accolade created by the Caterer and Hotelkeeper Magazine supported by Villeroy & Boch, Michael Cains Restaurants, Abode and Malmasion Hotels and Learnpurple talent retention specialists.
Kelly says: “I have a very talented, committed team here at Pier Point with their help I look forward to building on the restaurants success to date in the future.”
This year, Pier Point celebrated its second anniversary in March and has undergone a £100k investment to date to create a simple and very effective warm and welcoming transformation.
Inside, the restaurant has seating for 90 covers while al fresco dining for 125 is soon to be increased to 155 and there are warm patio heaters.
A new menu is appealing to a broad range audience as Pier Point uses quality, fresh, local ingredients and dietary requirements can be catered for.
The menu features fresh local fish, burgers, pizzas, steaks and vegetarian options with starters from £4.50, main meals from £8.95 and desserts from £3.95.
As well as being good value for money, Pier Point also has a children’s menu and high chairs are available.
Breakfast is served from 10am to 12pm; Lunch from 12pm to 3pm including a lighter snack menu featuring jacket potatoes and baguettes with various fillings.
You can also enjoy afternoon tea at Pier Point and dinner is available from 6pm to 10pm. For theatregoers there is a new pre-theatre menu and an afternoon tapas menu coming soon.
When it comes to private functions Pier Point has plenty of room for wedding parties, birthdays, anniversaries and christenings and is the ideal setting to celebrate your special occasion.
Head chef Luke Hart is prepared to cater for all your needs and attentive but informal table service is delivered by professional and friendly staff with attention to detail.
A choice of wines include local South Devon Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve and on the wine list all bottles are under £25. House wines are priced at around £11.95 per bottle.
Champagnes are also available by the bottle and range from £24; Champagne is also available by the glass. Pier Point also serves a a wide range of spirits, cognacs, whiskies, lagers and bottled beer and cocktails will be introduced in the future.
