Much of Swansea city centre was wiped out during the three-night blitz during the Second World War. Since then, the rebuilding has never stopped. The city centre now boasts hundreds of shops and businesses, a famous indoor market, cinemas and other leisure facilities, with more yet to come. Recent residential developments have also seen a major growth in city centre living.

Regular buses link the area with the centre of Swansea, where there is a wider range of shops, nightlife, a train station and access to the M4 motorway.
Port Tennant is located to the east of Swansea city centre, with Fabian Way Park and Ride nearby. A recreational area is situated beside the River Tawe, with a cycle path and footpath. The area is currently undergoing regeneration. Port Tennant provides primary education, churches, local shops and a surgery. Swansea Marin, city centre and, the M4 is easily reachable.
St Thomas is located to the east of Swansea city centre, with Fabian Way Park and Ride nearby. A recreational area is situated beside the River Tawe, with a cycle path and footpath.There is a church, library and doctors' surgery in St Thomas, along with primary schools. and secondary school within walking distance. Swansea Marin, city centre and, the M4 is easily reachable.
Townhill is an electoral ward to the west of Swansea consisting of Townhill, Mayhill and Gors. From its elevated position, the area overlooks Swansea city centre, the docks and Swansea Bay. There is a primary school and nursery schools in Townhill, along with part of the Swansea Institute campus. Regular buses link the area with the centre of Swansea.
