St Michael’s School Llanelli has enjoyed another successful year’s Sport.

Team successes include The U14 & U16 rugby teams excelled themselves in the Urdd Rugby sevens in April.Luke Treharne and Panashe Rushesha went on to represent the Llanelli Schoolboys 7’s Rugby Team which won the Welsh National 7’s Rugby Tournament at Llandovery in May Individual successes:

International swimmers Natalie and Gabriella Heard were selected to represent the Welsh Team in The USA in May. Thomas Walters won a Gold Medal in the Standing Long Jump at the UK Sports Hall Athletics Finals in Birmingham in April with a leap of 71cm equaling his own Welsh record. Cricketer Alec Bowen (Year 9) was selected to represent West Glamorgan U14 County Team in May.

Tessa Gates (Year 9) was 2nd in the Dyfed Schools Golf Championships in Tenby inMay. Year 9 Show Jumper, Imogen Thomas took part in the David Broome Event in April on her pony ‘Timberland Little King’. Grace Stone (Year 11) was selected for Wales U17 Netball Squad and Rebecca Treharne was selected for Wales U16 Hockey Team.

Tennis stars Jonathan and Jacob Davies won the National ISA Tennis Championships in Devon in May.Jonathan won the U16 Singles event and Jonathan and Jacob won the Doubles. Pupils at the School are now looking forward to 3 separate competitive Sports Days for Infants, Juniors and SeniorsParents races have proved to be extremely popular and competition heats and finals are now held annually. Head of PE Judy Price was thrilled to be nominated for Netball Coach of the Year and was delighted to be runner-up at the Welsh Award Ceremony at UWIC in Cardiff.
