Steps to Success
Having welcomed many new pupils this term, we are now preparing our Year 13 students for university entrance. Mock interviews, personal guidance with UCAS forms and a reputation for academic excellence have enabled Ffynone pupils to secure places at top British Universities.
Our students are actively encouraged to develop independent study skills through use of our sixth form study suite.
Peer assessment and a tutorial training style enhance standards of achievement at AS and A2 level.
With university admissions tutors increasingly looking for “value added”, we also develop self-confidence and a sense of purpose through extra-curricular activities. Ffynone pupils undertake challenges and opportunities from British Schools Expedition to Tall Ships; debating to drama. Sixth- Formers are also offered opportunities for responsibility in school, acting as Senior Prefects and mentoring younger pupils on the School Council. They are currently co-ordinating our “Pasta Mountain” collection for Wales Romania Aid and helping prepare the “Mr X” Factor Concert to raise money for the Mr X appeal. We feel such activities, allied with high academic standards, are vital factors in our pupils’ steps to success as they enter further education.
