Step inside a shop which oozes bygone glamour

WALK into Henrietta Henson’s gift and clothing shop and it is like being back stage at a 1920s show.

Vintage jewellery and delicate scarves are draped around the cluttered shop which resembles a French boudoir.

Dressing tables are disguised by sparkling Murano glass necklaces, velvet hats, art deco-style trinkets and scarves.

This flapper’s haven in Newton Abbot’s Wolborough Street simply oozes glamour.
Henrietta said: “It is a treasure trove in here. Women come in and get lost in the shop. It’s a quirky curiosity shop with a modern twist.

“A lot of my things are Fairtrade or one-off pieces. I am getting in new stationery sets and handmade camisoles unique to this shop.”

Henrietta, who is also a trained artist, sells her own abstract, water colour and oil paintings, and hand painted cards of elegant ladies and coat-tailed gentleman.

Henrietta Henson’s shop is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm.
