Children are well catered for. South Devon is known for its golden sands and safe bathing, but you can also find plenty to do away from the beach.
Paignton Pier is the traditional English pier and offers a whole host of activities for all the family including fortune telling, prize bingo, trampolines, mega slide, Orbiter dodgems and ten pin bowling. Why not step back in time on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway and take an historic ride along the stunning Riviera coastline, just as your great-grandparents would have done? Catch up on more history at Torquay Museum as you learn about Devon’s past or discover the truth behind the curse of Tutankhamen’s tomb.
Those with a creative flair can try their hand at ceramic bisque painting at China Blue in Totnes.
For luxury living at its height, charter M.Y Grand Lady for the day-of-a-lifetime bespoke cruise around the South Devon coast and up the Dart, or for an even longer break to the Scilly Isles or Brittany.
Pony fans can see the latest foal at the Miniature Pony Centre on Dartmoor and may want to take a dip in the river afterwards at Huccaby or Dartmeet, or jump over the huge stones in the water. Try climbing the rocks at Haytor — the view from the top is stunning.
