Walk on the wild side at this mighty attraction
PAIGNTON is one of Britain’s top zoos. The 80 acres of natural-looking landscaped grounds are home to some of the planet’s rarest and most amazing animals.
Discover all your favourites, like gorillas and orangutans, elephants and giraffes, lions, tigers and black rhinos — including baby Zuri, now over one year old. And be ready for a few surprises along the way, too.
New for 2008 is Crocodile Swamp. Here, amid the lush tropical foliage and steamy atmosphere, you’ll come face-to-face with Cuban, Nile and saltwater crocodiles plus large snakes, turtles, fish and butterflies — enter if you dare! Recent births include a bongo (a forest antelope) and a rare red-crowned crane chick; recent arrivals include new orangutans and a new zebra.
The Zoo has plenty to keep everyone going all day, with shops, restaurant, takeaway food outlets, indoor and outdoor play areas, a miniature train, a free bird show and the hands-on interactive Discovery Centre. The Zoo, a registered charity, has a long history of education, scientific research and practical conservation both at home and abroad.

TORQUAY’S coastal zoo is a wildlife oasis set on the town’s bustling waterfront. Beneath the soaring net canopy you will find one hundred perky penguins plus fur seals, puffins, wading birds and sea ducks. Discover beaches with gently lapping waves, the restful estuary and the busy Auk Cliff.
There’s fascinating underwater viewing and many more surprises downstairs. The café has a terrace with glorious Bay views — enjoy a coffee and look out for dolphins! The Tradewinds shop – accessible whether you are visiting Living Coasts or not - sells a range of gifts, souvenirs and Fair Trade items.
Developments during 2008 are bringing amazing new exhibits and exciting new species to Living Coasts. There will be an underground mangrove forest, poisonous stingrays and dinosaur crabs, as well as new exhibitions and displays.
There’s more to do undercover for adults and children alike, including the Penguin Academy computer gaming area, a magic interactive floor and a limpet climbing wall. Keeper talks, theatre performances, play areas and special events mean there’s always something to do. Living Coasts is an all-weather attraction.
