Take a restful winter break

WINTER has officially started – but within three weeks, the days will start to get longer again, slowly but surely.

But we still could be in for some seasonal weather – and of course, it’s important to look after yourself, and protect yourself from the winter blues and all of the bugs that are about. Why not plan a break? It gives you something to look forward to and keeps you motivated.

A winter break is an opportunity to recharge your batteries during this chilly season. The Westcountry is a wonderful place to stay, with a wealth of activities on offer.

You could treat yourself to a nice hotel, or stay in a holiday park with your family and be looked after, while enjoying the scenery of the place you’re visiting – the south-west coastline is stunning at any time of year.

Or you could try one of many country cottages in various locations in Devon and Cornwall to soak up some winter atmosphere. You could choose to stay in the rolling countryside, at a waterside location, or close to a village or town – there are many options available to you. You could also incorporate some pampering into your break or just pop into a spa for the day.

There’s nothing quite like a facial or a massage to chase away those winter blues and leave you feeling on top of the world. If you want to leave the car at home, then coach travel is an option.

Many operators offer UK and European breaks. Enjoy the highlights of Europe on a coach trip, cutting out the hassle of driving yourself. You can relax and let someone else take you to some amazing places.

Or if you fancy some island hopping you can take advantage of the beautiful Isles of Scilly. The islands offer a welcoming array of hotels, pubs and eateries, plus amazing views over the Atlantic, white beaches and plenty of wildlife.

If you’re not keen on going away then you could try out some short day trips to places of interest and also sample some great local food by visiting some of the region’s top restaurants.

Whatever you have in mind for taking a break this winter, there is plenty of choice in the Westcountry.
